Snapshot

Largest active fires in Utah.

Recorded September 9, 2026 from the NIFC incident feed. Containment is the share of a fire's perimeter with a control line around it — not how much of it has been put out.

Downstream

What a fire season does to Utah water.

The reason a monitoring platform publishes a wildfire map at all.

Burn scars — the years after

Severe fire strips vegetation and can leave soil water-repellent, so rain a healthy watershed would have absorbed runs straight off the burn scar instead. That drives debris flows, channel scour, and pulses of ash and sediment into streams well downstream of anything that burned — raising turbidity, depressing dissolved oxygen, and, with the riparian canopy gone, raising water temperature across reaches cold-water species depend on. The elevated risk usually persists for several years, until vegetation re-establishes.

Not an emergency system

This is a situational-awareness map built from federal data. Perimeters lag the real fire edge, and smoke output is a forecast. For evacuation orders and life-safety information in Utah, follow your local emergency management agency, county sheriff, and official incident channels.

NASA and EPA’s satellites read a pigment index over roughly 2,300 U.S. lakes large enough to resolve at 300 m. A pre-screening indicator, not a health assessment, and never a substitute for your state’s advisory.

SEE IT IN ACTION

One platform for three monitoring programs.

Run a mark-recapture program, coordinate a multi-partner invasive species response, or manage the waterway program for a state park or conservation nonprofit. Bring your own program to the demo and we'll run Driftwise on it, live.

Request a demo

A free 30-minute working session with your data on screen.

Get started

Scope a pilot for your program.

Tell us about your program — a watershed, an infestation, a trail system. We'll walk through how a field record becomes the report your agency and funders sign off on.

The call

A working call, not a pitch

We spend the time on your actual program — the data you have now and the report you owe.

Onboarding

Guided onboarding

We import your existing records and configure the setup alongside your team. Role-based in-product tours carry the rest of the crew after the call.

Scope

Start with one season

Run a single pilot first and expand when it earns the next watershed.

Reach us

Send us your corridor, watershed, or program and we'll build the working demo around your records. We reply within one business day.
